the challenge!

so i am a few days behind so i will catchup today! but after discovering the Story of of my life blog {via fairy tales are true} i decided to take the challenge & blog every day in may. lately i get so wrapped up in my mommyhood i haven’t been just really writing to write. so i am looking forward to this challenge. i’m not sure that i am interesting enough for people to actually read these posts or care about them ha, but for me they will be therapeutic & maybe someone will get a laugh out of them also. here goes nothing…

Day 1 –  The story of your life in 250 words or less (or one paragraph… no one will be counting your words… probably)

i was born october 19th, 1983. the product of my parents love, and a snowstorm. my dad still says my mom tricked him into it but truth be told he loved me from the moment he heard i was in her belly. he wrote me a letter the night i was born, and gave it to me 16 years later. i’m pretty sure i tried my best to drive my parents insane & prove to them i was a grownup – however being far from one. i played soccer constantly. we moved a lot. i went to multiple elementary schools, high schools and colleges. i had to become an expert at making friends, so i leaned on my sense of humor. making people laugh has always been what makes me happy. i was a late bloomer in the looks department – i was that heavy set girl with big red rimmed glasses, clothes that didn’t match & messy unbridled hair. i went to wake forest university to play soccer. i made amazing lifelong friends. i moved to new york city, not knowing a single soul. i was petrified my first 6 months. i settled in and fell in love. i met my future husband at a halloween party in 2006. i can still remember what he was wearing & how i felt the moment i saw him. i still feel it every day. we were engaged in 2010, married in 2011 and had our first child in 2013. madison has become our world.

Day 2 – Educate us on something you know alot about or are good at. Take any approach you’d like (serious and educational or funny and sarcastic)

i’m not sure i know A LOT about anything but i know a little about a lot of things lol – i guess i know soccer, i spent the better part of my 30 years playing the sport. i could teach you how to catch a soccer ball, & how to organize a defense. back in the good old days i think i was pretty good, but who knows i got old somewhere in all of that. bring me a ball, some orange cones & a pair of gloves & we can get to work.

Day 3 – Things that make you uncomfortable

public speaking. one hundo percent! i am petrified to speak in front of a group. i break out in hives, it’s no joke. my fave and neck and arms will turn a blotchy red. there is no hiding my fear from the world.

Day 4 – Favorite quote (from a person, from a book, etc) and why you love it

this is so hard for me because i have SO many! i will have to list a few… in regards to faith, love and life

trust in the lord with all your heart & lean not on your own understanding. in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your path straight.  – proverbs 3:5-6

my father wrote that in my first bible & referenced it to me growing up on many occasions. it is a great reminder that our lives are out of our hands & if we have faith, good things will come to us. we will be taken care of. we are loved.

i fell in love with her courage, her sincerity and her flaming self respect. and it’s these things id believe in, even if the whole world indulged in wild suspicions that she wasn’t all she should be.

i love her and that is the beginning of everything.

if you change those hers to hims… it’s all about love & loyalty. i will stand by brian no matter what. he is at the core of everything that i do and everything that i am. i believe that we were made for each other, two stubborn souls.

If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together.. there is something you must always remember. you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. but the most important thing is, even if we’re apart.. I’ll always be with you.

this is something i want madison to know and a print that i have in her room. don’t let people tell you anything different baby girl..

Day 5 – Publicly profess your love and devotion for one of your blogger friends. What makes them great? Why do you love them? If you don’t have blogger friends, talk about a real-life friend or even a family member

well i have two…

sarah you’re totally my girl crush ha – i blog stalk you constantly &  it’s funny b/c i feel like i know you even though we’ve never met. you are poignant, faithful & beautiful & you seem to make everything around you beautiful as well. the smiles i see on JB & Tuck’s faces in your photos just prove how happy you make people in your life. and the comments from your readers are proof that you touch people’s lives & help them even from afar. words do make a difference.

& blair well you are just amazing. i envy your wardrobe & your lifestyle. i’d love to go shopping with you & discuss accessories over coffee. you make everything unique & different & i love that. i never know what to expect next. you’ve been inspiration for numerous outfits for me & my friends. basically if you could dress me everyday that would be wonderful. i live in astoria, feel free to drop by!

Day 6 – If you couldn’t answer with your job, how would you answer the question, ‘what do you do’?

i make people laugh. i help them make light of this heavy world & realize that there is fun to be had out there. i believe very much in work hard, play harder.

& i take care of people. i enjoy doing things for others. it’s rewarding to serve others, and i hope that i make everyone i meet feel as though they can ask me anything. i would be there for you in a heartbeat, i promise.
