YESSSSSSS, something to stimulate my brain & my fingers. another blog challenge! i am a few days behind so this post is my catch-up. thank you jenni for blogtember!
Tuesday, Sept. 3: Describe where or what you come from. The people, the places, and/or the factors that make up who you are —- i’m a city girl with a southern soul. i am from a bunch of hodge podge towns mainly in kentucky, texas & colorado. i’ve never lived in a place more than a few years until i moved to nyc. i have now been here for almost 8 years. but the majority of my growing up was done below the mason dixon line. i miss the gentle soul of the south even though i have become more accustomed to the fast pace of the city lately. i think moving around from town to town really made me who i am today though. i was always having to make new friends in foreign cities, so i think that’s where i get my buoyancy from. it was always a new challenge & i love to meet new people. i do find it hard to realize i will be in nyc for a long time to come. it is a wonderful place to be it’s also difficult to realize that my vagabond self is now stuck in a sense. but there is no place i’d rather be stuck than with brian & madison in a city that never sleeps. we have endless possibilities here. i hope i always can take pieces of each place i’ve been with me.
Wednesday, September 4: If you could take three months off from your current life and do anything in the world, what would you do? (bonus points for fun photos from Pinterest, but don’t forget to cite the source!) —- i would hop on a plane & spend the night under the northern stars in an igloo village in finland. i have always been obsessed with this & i hope some day i can make this dream come true!
Thursday, September 5: Pass on some useful advice or information you learned and always remembered. —- my dad always said “don’t give up what you want the most for what you want at the moment” & that’s the best advice i’ve ever been given. it always rings true & makes me think twice when i’m really “wanting” something. the big picture is always the most important thing.
Friday, September 6: A story about a time you were very afraid. —- september 11, 2001. my dad was supposed to be in a meeting in the top of that towers that morning. i am grateful everyday, God told him not to go.
Monday, September 9: Take this short personality test and respond to your results. (at the end, find the detailed profile of your personality account – click “click to view” under “You” and “self awareness and personal growth.” You can even google your type and find more info on it!) —- i am apparently an ESFJ. i like to think that this is actually pretty accurate. the summery seems to be that ‘ESFJs at their best are warm, sympathetic, helpful, cooperative, tactful, down-to-earth, practical, thorough, consistent, organized, enthusiastic, and energetic. They enjoy tradition and security, and will seek stable lives that are rich in contact with friends and family.’ i will take it! LOL
Tuesday, September 10: Describe a distinct moment when your life took a turn. — the day i met my husband. i can assure you my life was on a completely different path before that & all of my visions of where my life was headed, changed drastically. it was the best decision i ever made. he makes me feel more at home within myself than anyone ever has.
Wednesday, September 11: Share links to your favorite online shops, preferably with a few photos of your favorite items in each shop. —- jameson monroe (etsy) created to bring chic mothers and their children the most fashionable accessories out there. hello merch is an independent company started in 2008 by Sam Means as an outlet for artists to manufacture and sell merchandise online and on tour, without giving up their rights by signing major label-style merch contracts. printable wisdom (etsy) digital printables of scripture Bible verses, quotes, artwork, portraits, silhouettes, monograms, invitations and cards, gift tags, calendars, and more! chloe & isabel is a fashion jewelry lifestyle brand devoted to empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs though social retail. kelsi creates (etsy) custom made pillows using fresh designs using different types of fabrics and techniques. jennifer ann stylish custom leggings & blankets for infants, toddlers and young kids, little hip squeaks ultra-modern brand for ultra-modern babies, tots and kiddos.
Thursday, September 12: Discuss ways that blogging or social media has changed you. —- i don’t think social media has changed me exactly but i think it has given me an outlet to express myself. it has allowed me to stay in touch with friends & meet new people i would never have crossed paths with. i think that the social media phenomena has been rewarding in the fact that is has allowed me to share my experiences with others & find that there are other people out there feel the same way as me. it’s a great comfort for me to know this.
